FAQ
JustWravel customized Ladakh tour packages include a private vehicle with an experienced driver, carefully selected stays, Inner Line Permits (ILP), daily breakfast and dinner, a local guide, oxygen support, a basic medical kit, and free travel insurance up to ₹4.5 lakhs. All logistics from permits to accommodations are managed end-to-end for a smooth travel experience.
Customized tours give you flexible dates, a private vehicle, a personalized itinerary, and the freedom to travel at your own pace. You can add destinations like Hanle or Turtuk, choose your preferred stays, and avoid rigid schedules. Group tours operate on fixed batch dates with shared vehicles and a set itinerary that may not match your travel preferences.
A 5–7 day trip covers the major highlights — Leh, Nubra Valley, and Pangong Lake. Add 2–3 more days if you want to include Tso Moriri or Turtuk. For the full Srinagar–Leh–Manali circuit or a Ladakh–Spiti journey, plan for 10–14 days, including a mandatory acclimatization day in Leh at the start.
Customized Ladakh packages from JustWravel range from ₹18,180 (5N/6D short circuit) to ₹74,000 (13N/14D Leh + Spiti). Mid-range Srinagar-entry packages are priced between ₹32,000 and ₹46,080. Bike trips start from ₹37,500. Flight tickets to Leh are not included and are additional. All pricing is fully transparent with no hidden charges.
The best time to visit Ladakh is May to September, when roads are open and weather is clear. June and July are ideal for road trips and festivals. May and September offer fewer crowds and better availability. October is excellent for photographers and those who prefer a quieter experience. The Manali–Leh Highway is open June to November; the Srinagar–Leh Highway from May to November.
Yes. Inner Line Permits are required for visiting restricted areas including Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri, Hanle, Umling La, and Turtuk. Without a valid ILP, you will be turned back at army checkpoints. JustWravel arranges all required permits before your trip begins — included in the package cost. You do not need to visit any government office or handle this yourself.
Both routes are exceptional but serve different travel styles. The Manali–Leh Highway is the adventure route — high passes, dramatic landscapes, a two-day mountain drive. The Srinagar–Leh Highway offers a more gradual acclimatization, the Kargil War Memorial, and a gentler entry into Ladakh. Your ideal route depends on where you are starting from, how much time you have, and whether you prefer road adventure or cultural richness.
Yes. Hanle and Umling La can be added to customized itineraries, especially for 7–10 day trips. Three packages on this page specifically cover Hanle and Umling La. These areas are in a restricted zone and require a special ILP — arranged by JustWravel. The best time to visit is June to October when the roads to this remote region are accessible.
Absolutely. Customized Ladakh tours are designed for all traveller types. Couples can choose romantic routes with lakeside camps and scenic drives. Families benefit from flexible pacing, comfort-focused stays, and itineraries that avoid rushed schedules. Solo travellers and solo women travellers get a safe, fully supported journey with an experienced local team. JustWravel has delivered 250+ such customized tours across all traveller categories.
Before booking Ladakh tour packages, consider factors like the best travel season (May to September), altitude-related health precautions, required permits, and packing essentials. Choose a trusted travel company, check inclusions like transport and stays, and ensure the package fits your pace and preferences.

A customized Ladakh tour package from JustWravel is priced based on the number of nights, your entry route, accommodation type, and group size. Here is a realistic price range based on actual packages listed on this page:
All JustWravel customized Ladakh packages include: private vehicle with experienced driver, hotel and camp stays (breakfast + dinner), Inner Line Permits, local guide, oxygen cylinder, 24/7 on-trip support, and free travel insurance up to ₹4.5 lakhs. Flight tickets to Leh are not included and are additional.
The cost per person reduces with a larger group. A couple travelling together will pay less per person than a solo traveller. Speak to our team to get a transparent, customized quote for your specific route and dates.
Our popular Ladakh customize tour packages are designed for every kind of traveller — from quick Leh getaways and thrilling road trips through Nubra and Pangong to extended Ladakh–Spiti adventures. From flights to stays and route planning, everything can be tailored to your travel style, budget, and pace. Choose a package, customize it your way, and explore the Himalayas without compromises.
The classic Leh-based circuit is the ideal starting point for first-time Ladakh visitors. Start and end in Leh, fly directly to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, and spend your days exploring Nubra Valley via Khardung La and Pangong Lake via Chang La — the two iconic legs of any Ladakh itinerary. These short 5–7 night packages are also the most affordable way to experience a customized Ladakh trip.
Tso Moriri sits at 4,522m and is everything Pangong is — except quieter, less crowded, and arguably more beautiful. In summer, bar-headed geese and Brahminy ducks share the shoreline, with occasional flamingo sightings. These packages weave Tso Moriri into the classic Leh circuit for a serene, offbeat lake experience without straying far from the main route.
Turtuk was under Pakistani control until the 1971 war. Located in the Shyok Valley just 7 km from the Pakistan border, it has a Balti culture — language, food, architecture — entirely different from the rest of Ladakh. Apricot orchards, wooden balconies, warm local hospitality. These packages pair Turtuk with Nubra and Tso Moriri for a deeply offbeat Ladakh experience.
Hanle is Ladakh's dark sky reserve — home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory and one of the best stargazing spots in Asia. Umling La at 19,300 ft is the world's highest motorable road. These packages take you deep into remote eastern Ladakh — beyond the standard tourist circuit — into terrain that very few visitors ever see. Best suited for experienced travellers seeking something genuinely offbeat.
Journey along the iconic Srinagar–Leh Highway (NH-1), passing through the scenic meadows of Sonamarg, crossing the thrilling Zoji La, experiencing the cold desert of Drass, and visiting the Kargil War Memorial before entering the Indus Valley. This route blends the lush valleys of Kashmir with the rugged terrain of Ladakh — one of the most culturally rich Himalayan road trips available.
Cover both legendary Himalayan highways in a single trip — enter from Srinagar, exit from Manali, or the reverse. Over 10–11 nights, these packages offer the most complete Ladakh experience: Kargil, Leh, Nubra, Pangong, and more. The premium circuit (₹44,970) adds Turtuk, Hanle, Umling La, and Tso Moriri — the most comprehensive Ladakh package on this page, ideal for travellers with 10 or more days.
Ride through the legendary Manali–Leh Highway all the way to Umling La on Royal Enfield motorcycles, accompanied by support vehicles, fuel backup, riding gear, and experienced trip leaders. The Delhi to Delhi circuit covers the Srinagar–Leh route on the return journey — a complete Himalayan biking loop. Suitable for both first-time riders and seasoned bikers, this remains one of the most popular choices for a customized Ladakh adventure.
Experience the legendary Manali–Leh Highway as you cross iconic high-altitude passes — Rohtang Pass, Baralacha La, and Tanglang La — across a thrilling 1,000+ km journey with scenic overnight halts at Jispa or Sarchu. Perfect for travellers seeking the full overland adventure rather than flying into Leh. JustWravel provides the vehicle, driver, and planned night halts throughout.
Experience the ultimate Himalayan crossover as you travel from Ladakh to Spiti Valley via the remote Sumdo border — one of the rarest and most spectacular Himalayan crossings. This 14-day adventure covers Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, Tso Moriri, Key Monastery, Kibber, and Chandratal Lake before concluding in Manali. Designed for serious mountain travellers who want to experience two of India's greatest Himalayan landscapes in a single journey.
This is the main season for a Ladakh trip. Roads are open, weather is clear and dry, and you can access Pangong, Nubra, Tso Moriri, and most high passes without issue. June to August is peak season. May and September are shoulder months — better availability and slightly lower prices. If you are planning via the Manali–Leh Highway, note that it typically opens in June and closes in November.
October is genuinely underrated. Tourist crowds thin out considerably, the light turns golden, and the high-altitude landscapes take on a completely different character. Pangong shifts colour. The passes are still accessible through most of October. Temperatures drop at night, but days remain clear and pleasant. One of the best months for photographers and travellers who prefer quieter roads.
Most of the standard Ladakh packages are not operational in deep winter as the Manali–Leh- Highway closes by November and conditions become extreme. However, this is the season for the famous Chadar Trek — the frozen Zanskar River walk — typically done in January and February. The Srinagar–Leh Highway remains open longer and is sometimes accessible through November. If you're specifically planning a winter Ladakh or Chadar Trek experience, speak to our team for a custom itinerary.
Flying is the fastest way in and the entry point for most Leh-based circuit packages on this page. Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh receives direct flights from Delhi (approximately 1.5 hours), Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chandigarh. Flights from Mumbai and Bangalore often connect via Delhi. JustWravel arranges airport pickup as part of every package. For travellers from Pune, Hyderabad, or other cities, a connecting flight via Delhi into Leh is the standard route.
The Srinagar–Leh Highway covers approximately 430 km and is typically driven over two days with a night halt in Kargil. The route passes through Sonamarg, climbs over Zoji La, passes through Drass and the Kargil War Memorial, then follows the Indus River into Leh. This is the entry route for all Srinagar-starting packages on this page. The highway is generally open from May to November.
The Manali–Leh Highway is 490 km of legendary road — Rohtang Pass, Baralacha La, Lachulung La, and Tanglang La before the descent into Leh. It is typically a two-day drive with a night halt at Jispa or Sarchu. The highway opens around June and closes in November when snowfall makes the high passes impassable. This is the exit route for the Srinagar–Leh–Manali circuit packages and the entry route for the Road Trip from Manali.
Delhi to Leh is 1,000+ kilometres — a proper overland expedition covering 3 to 4 driving days through Chandigarh, Manali, and the Manali–Leh Highway. This is the route for the Ladakh Trip from Delhi (10N/11D, ₹29,000) and the Bike Road Trip Delhi to Delhi packages. JustWravel provides the vehicle, driver, and planned night halts throughout. For bike trip travellers, this is the full loop — Delhi out and Delhi back, covering both Himalayan highways in a single 10-night journey.
Pangong stretches 134 km from India into Tibet, situated at 4,350 metres — India holds only about 40% of it. The lake changes colour through the day: blue, green, grey — and the surrounding mountain backdrop makes it one of the most photographed landscapes in the country. An overnight stay near Pangong is included in most JustWravel packages and is genuinely one of those experiences that must be done at least once.
Nubra Valley is an exquisite valley in the heart of Ladakh, known for its unique blend of rugged mountains, lush greenery, and a surprisingly mild climate warm enough to grow apricots. The valley is famous for the sand dunes of Hunder, where rare double-humped Bactrian camels roam freely — a landscape unlike anywhere else in India. Accessed from Leh via Khardung La, it sits at the confluence of the Shyok and Nubra rivers.
Khardung La at 17,582 ft (5,359m) is the gateway from Leh to Nubra Valley and one of the highest motorable passes in the world. Snow-capped year-round, with a small chai stall at the top, it is crossed by all Nubra Valley packages on this page. On a clear day, the views stretch to the Karakoram Range beyond the Pakistan border.
Tso Moriri is everything Pangong is — except quieter, more remote, and arguably more beautiful. At 4,522 metres, it is a high-altitude wetland reserve. In summer months, Brahminy ducks and bar-headed geese share the shoreline, with the occasional Tibetan wolf sighting in the distance. Five dedicated packages include Tso Moriri as a primary destination.
Hanle sits at 4,500 metres in a vast open plateau in eastern Ladakh. The Indian Astronomical Observatory here is one of the highest in the world, and the government has declared the surrounding area a Dark Sky Reserve — light pollution is minimal, and the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye on clear nights. If stargazing is on your list, Hanle delivers in a way that nowhere else in India does.
At 19,300 feet (5,883 metres), Umling La in the Demchok region of eastern Ladakh is officially the world's highest motorable road — confirmed by Guinness World Records. It is not on the standard tourist circuit; reaching it requires going through Hanle and deep into restricted territory. Three packages on this page specifically route through Umling La. It is a hard day, a real achievement, and a story worth telling.
Turtuk was only opened to Indian tourists in 2010. It sits just 7 km from the Pakistan border in the Shyok Valley — a Balti village with a culture, architecture, and cuisine entirely different from the rest of Ladakh. Apricot orchards, wooden balconies, warm hospitality. It is called India's last village on the northern border, and it earns that description. A special ILP is required — arranged by JustWravel.
Drass is the second coldest inhabited place on earth — temperatures drop to -45°C in winter. The Kargil War Memorial at Drass honours the soldiers of the 1999 Kargil conflict with a visibility that still feels raw and important. All Srinagar-starting packages pass through this corridor, and the memorial visit is always a quiet, affecting stop on the itinerary.
Leh is the base for every itinerary we offer. The city itself rewards exploration: Leh Palace overlooks the old town from a ridge, Shanti Stupa offers sunrise views over the Indus Valley, and the monastery trail — Thiksey, Hemis, Spituk, Alchi, Diskit — can fill two days without repetition. The Leh market is worth an evening walk for local handicrafts, dried apricots, and pashmina.
The Spiti Valley is a high-altitude cold desert in Himachal Pradesh, accessed from Ladakh via the rare Sumdo border crossing. Key Monastery perched on a hilltop, the village of Kibber at 4,200 metres, and the glacial Chandratal Lake are the highlights before the route ends in Manali. Available exclusively in the 13-night Leh & Spiti package.
From thrilling road trips on Himalayan highways to peaceful monastery walks, stargazing in the world's darkest skies and camel rides on cold desert dunes — here are the experiences that make a customized Ladakh trip unforgettable.
Driving to Umling La at 19,300 ft is unlike anything else in India. The terrain is barren and otherworldly, the air is thin, and reaching the summit board feels like a genuine achievement. Available in three packages — for both car-based and bike-based travellers. The road passes through Hanle and remote eastern Ladakh where very few tourists venture.
Wake up to Pangong Tso at sunrise from your tent on the lakeshore — the water shifts from silver to turquoise to deep blue as the sun rises over the Himalayan ridgeline. All JustWravel packages with Pangong include an overnight stay at the lake in deluxe camps or guesthouses. One of the most memorable nights on any Ladakh trip.
Nubra Valley's Hunder sand dunes are home to Bactrian double-humped camels — a legacy of the ancient Silk Route. Riding one across the cold desert dunes with snow-capped peaks in the background is a genuinely surreal experience available nowhere else in India. Included as a standard activity in all JustWravel packages that go through Nubra.
Hanle has one of the clearest and darkest night skies in Asia. At 4,500m, with no light pollution and dry mountain air, the Milky Way is visible without any equipment on a clear night. JustWravel's Hanle packages include an overnight stay at Hanle village specifically for stargazing. The Indian Astronomical Observatory is nearby. Best from May to September.
Ladakh has over 100 Buddhist monasteries. Hemis is the largest — the annual Hemis Festival in June–July with masked dances is world-famous. Thiksey resembles the Potala Palace in Lhasa with 12 floors of murals and statues. Alchi has 1,000-year-old wall paintings. Diskit in Nubra has a 32-metre Maitreya Buddha statue. Lamayuru sits on a moonland landscape. All JustWravel packages include dedicated monastery time.
Walking through Turtuk is like stepping into a different country — because it was one until 1971. The Balti language, food, flat-roofed stone houses, and the warmth of locals make it one of Ladakh's most memorable stops. The drive from Nubra via the Shyok River valley is scenic throughout. Special ILP required — handled by JustWravel.
The Manali–Leh Highway is one of the greatest motorcycle roads in the world — 490 km of mountain terrain crossing four high-altitude passes. JustWravel's bike packages include a support vehicle, tools, first aid, fuel support at remote stretches, and an experienced trip lead. The Delhi to Delhi bike trip covers both Manali–Leh and Srinagar–Leh highways in a full 10-night circuit.
The Kargil War Memorial at Drass is one of the most emotionally powerful stops on the Srinagar–Leh Highway. Set against the backdrop of Tiger Hill — the site of some of the fiercest battles of 1999 — the memorial honours the Indian soldiers with a quiet dignity. Drass is also the second coldest inhabited place on earth. Included in all Srinagar-entry JustWravel packages.
Leh is at 3,500 metres. Most travellers arriving by flight feel the altitude within hours — headache, breathlessness, fatigue. This is normal. What matters is what you do about it. Every JustWravel itinerary builds in a mandatory rest day in Leh before any high-altitude excursion begins. Do not push straight to Khardung La or Pangong on day one. Drink water consistently, avoid alcohol for the first 48 hours, and do not ignore persistent headaches. Our vehicles carry oxygen cylinders as a standard safety measure on every trip.
An Inner Line Permit is a government-issued document required for both Indian nationals and foreign visitors to access protected border areas in Ladakh. Nubra Valley, Pangong, Tso Moriri, Hanle, Umling La, and Turtuk all require an ILP. Without a valid one, you will be turned back at checkpoints. Getting it independently involves paperwork, government offices, and queues. With JustWravel, your ILP is arranged before your trip begins and is included in the package cost. You do not need to think about it.
Even in July, nights in Ladakh drop to near-zero at high camps. Pack layers — a thermal base, a fleece mid-layer, and a windproof outer shell. Sunscreen with SPF 50+ is non-negotiable at altitude; UV exposure is significantly higher than at sea level. Sunglasses with UV protection, a warm cap, and gloves for early mornings. Comfortable trekking shoes for monastery trails and day walks. For bike trips, riding gear guidance is provided separately by the JustWravel team.
Mobile connectivity in Ladakh is limited outside Leh city. BSNL has the widest coverage across remote areas — if you have a BSNL SIM, it is worth carrying it. Jio and Airtel work reasonably well within Leh. Beyond Leh, on routes to Pangong, Nubra, Hanle, or Tso Moriri, networks and internet can be unreliable. ATMs are available in Leh but frequently run out of cash during peak season — carry sufficient cash before heading out on multi-day excursions. Card payments work at most Leh hotels and cafes but may not be reliable in remote regions.
Ladakh's roads range from smooth tarmac on the Srinagar highway to loose gravel and river crossings in eastern Ladakh near Hanle and Umling La. River crossings during snowmelt in June can be challenging. Landslides are common after rain, particularly on the Manali–Leh Highway in July and August. The Manali–Leh Highway typically opens in early June and closes in November. The Srinagar–Leh Highway is open from May to November. Umling La and the Hanle circuit are best accessed between June and October. JustWravel plans every itinerary around seasonal road conditions specific to your chosen route.
We have been running customized Ladakh tours for 10 years — not as a booking platform that aggregates packages from vendors, but as a travel company that has physically designed and delivered 250+ private Ladakh itineraries. Our experience on the ground helps us create journeys that are reliable, comfortable, and thoughtfully planned.
Here is what that experience means for your trip:
Even on a private, customized trip — your own dates, your own vehicle, your own itinerary — you travel with the backing of a community and an organization that has been doing this seriously for a decade. That is the JustWravel difference.
