Overview

The Leh 7N/8D (Hanle-Umling-La) tour is an exhilarating and immersive journey through the stunning landscapes of Ladakh, combining breathtaking natural beauty with a thrilling adventure. This tour takes travelers through the rugged terrains of Leh, Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and the remote Hanle region, with a focus on the unique experience of crossing some of the world’s highest motorable passes, including the Umling La at an altitude of 19,024 feet. Your adventure begins with your arrival in Leh, a city nestled in the heart of Ladakh, surrounded by towering peaks and barren deserts. The first day is dedicated to acclimatization, ensuring that you’re well-prepared for the high-altitude journey ahead. After a relaxing day in Leh, you’ll embark on an exciting local sightseeing tour, visiting some of the most famous landmarks in the region, such as Sangam, where the Zanskar and Indus rivers meet, the Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and Shanti Stupa, known for its beautiful white dome and intricate carvings. The day ends with an opportunity to explore the local culture through café hopping and souvenir shopping.

The next leg of the journey takes you to the picturesque Nubra Valley, which you reach via the Khardung La, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. This region offers a mix of stunning desert landscapes, sand dunes, and green oases, making it a perfect spot for activities such as a Bactrian Camel ride and ATV rides (at personal expense). You’ll also have the chance to visit the Hunder Sand Dunes and spend the night in a campsite, complete with a bonfire (weather permitting), making it an unforgettable experience under the stars. After Nubra, the tour continues towards Pangong Lake, a destination made famous by Bollywood films such as 3 Idiots and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The journey to Pangong takes you through the Diskit Monastery, where you can pay homage to the 100-foot statue of Buddha before reaching the serene lake, where you can unwind and take in the surreal views of the shimmering blue waters surrounded by mountains. You’ll stay in lakeside cottages and have the opportunity to stargaze under the clear Ladakhi skies (weather permitting).

The next phase of the journey takes you to Hanle, one of the highest villages in Ladakh, nestled in the heart of the Changthang Valley, a pristine and remote region famous for its rugged beauty and diverse wildlife. The road to Hanle offers jaw-dropping views of the barren landscapes and is also home to India’s first and largest astronomical observatory, where you’ll get the chance to learn about stargazing in one of the clearest skies on Earth. Along the way, you’ll cross several picturesque villages like Chushul and Tsaga, which provide perfect rest stops while you soak in the surrounding beauty.

A major highlight of the tour is the Umling La, the world’s highest motorable pass. Located at an altitude of 19,024 feet, this pass offers thrilling, adrenaline-pumping rides through twisting mountain roads, providing panoramic views of the surrounding barren landscape. The journey to the top is an unforgettable experience, and once there, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views that make all the effort worthwhile. After conquering Umling La, you’ll return to Hanle for a night of stargazing, with the possibility of viewing the Milky Way and shooting stars, making for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The following day, you’ll begin your return journey back to Leh, with several stops along the way, including the Chumathang Village, known for its natural hot springs, and Shey Palace and Thiksey Monastery, which provide insights into Ladakhi culture and heritage.

This 7N/8D tour is perfect for those looking to explore the beauty and culture of Ladakh while pushing their limits with high-altitude biking, motorable pass rides, and a chance to witness some of the most incredible landscapes in the world. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or a cultural enthusiast, this journey has something for everyone. From stargazing under the clear Ladakhi sky to witnessing the unmatched natural beauty of Pangong Lake and conquering the mighty Umling La, this is a trip that promises to be both a test of endurance and a celebration of the grandeur of nature.

Durable footwear designed for rugged terrains.

Floaters.png

Floaters or Sandals:

Although the entire trek requires a good quality shoe, you still need to let your feet breathe to avoid chafing and blisters. When you are at the camp, a good pair of sandals and floaters will help you to move freely.

Tees.png

Tees / Tshirts:

You must keep at least three pairs of quick dry tees so that you can wash them in between stops for proper hygiene.

Poncho.png

Poncho:

A poncho is an evolved form of a raincoat that provides coverage to your body as well as your bag and ensures total water protection from rain.

Towel.png

Quick Dry Towel:

A quick dry towel will help in maintaining proper hygiene. It must dry quickly because the wet fabric will only increase the chance of bacterial growth.

Sanitizer.png

Sanitizer:

Essential for maintaining cleanliness while trekking.

Sun-Cap.png

Sun Cap / Hat:

A lightweight sun cap with side flaps is perfect to keep your head cool and avoid sunburns on a sunny day.

Trekking Shoes:

A good trekking shoe is comfortable, provides ankle support, and has a good grip as well. They shouldn’t be chunky, instead, they should be lightweight and sturdy.

Socks.png

Cotton Socks:

Cotton socks are extremely comfortable to move around in and are lightweight as well which is why you can always count on a good pair of cotton socks while trekking. However, keep in mind to change them and avoid wearing them when they are wet.

Woolen-Socks.png

Woolen Socks:

A good pair of woolen socks, especially merino, are comfortable, limit odors and provide adequate insulation from the cold so you can wear them at night.

Gloves.png

Woolen Gloves:

Insulated gloves help in maintaining proper body heat in your hands and also provide a better grasp on trekking poles.

Jacket.png

Main Jacket:

It’s emphasized that you need to carry proper layers so you can avoid getting cold which is why you need to carry a heavy jacket that you can put on over your other clothes.

Woolen-Cap.png

A versatile layering option for various temperatures.

Scarf.png

Scarf / Balaclava:

Along with sun rays and chilly winds, you also get hit by dirt and grime during treks which is why it's important to carry a scarf or balaclava so you can cover your face when needed.

Head-Lamp.png

You can’t rely on moonlight when you are in the mountains. A torch or even a headlamp with a fresh pair of batteries is always a good idea to bring along.

What our Clients Say About Us

Amazing experience with the JustWravel for Leh Ladakh with Turtuk and Tso Moriri trip. Amazing bike martial and management

JustWravel Review by Anurag Gupta

I recently went to Winter Spiti Valley trip with JustWravel which ended up being more as a trip with best friends. JustWravel had everything sorted for us be it transportation, safety, constant checkups, personalised care , accommodation, food and everything was super comfortable and amazing. Then it comes to the best part of this trip our trip captains - Abhishek and Ramneek He treated us like their own brother from day one and made sure all of us are having the time of our lives. They had constant checkups to ensure all of us are doing great physically. They had good knowledge about the place and shared the same with us as well. I would surely plan my next trip with JustWravel. I would like to mention an instance: I forgot my bag in the Volvo bus and there was nothing important in that bag but our captains still went out of their way to ensure that I got my bag safely.

Thank you JustWravel for giving me one of my best first group-trip experience - All-Girls Spiti Valley trip! I was a bit nervous before the trip began, but within no time, I realised that this was the best decision I took for myself. Saurav was a really friendly and easy-going trip leader and Mani Bhai was the sweetest local guide ever, who drove us around and also developed such a lovely bond with us. Both of them took great care of the group. Felt like family! ?? Lovely stay and food arrangements - never faced an issue even once. Most memorable trip! Thankyou!
