Lamayuru or Yuru Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery at an elevation of 3,510mts. Arahat Madhyantika, a person responsible for spreading Buddhism made some offering to the Nagas here and with the crack of his walking stick, a hole was made and all the water was drained out. Since that incident, the place is considered holy and sacred. Leh, the highest plateau in the Himalayas of India is a desert city, is the capital of northern India’s Ladakh UT(Union Territory). Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and nearby trekking areas. The area near Hunder is quite barren, but once you enter Hunder, it is quite green and there are many farms and cultivable land available here which makes it a soothing experience for your tired eyes.
