Overview Overview

Meghalaya is one of the most famous and beautiful states of India amongst all the Northeastern states. The name means “abode of clouds” in Sanskrit, and it lives up to its expectations. Think mist descending upon the hills, mystical waterfalls, deep caves, lush green and dense forests that will take you to so many places unexplored. Tourism in Meghalaya has everyone captivated by it and surely it is once in a lifetime destination to travel to.

This 6 nights 7 days Indelible Meghalaya Tour with Kaziranga and Dawki starts from Guwahati in Assam, and on the way we’ll be visiting the famous Kamakhya Devi Temple and Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.

A visit to Kaziranga wildlife sanctuary is up next. Kaziranga National Park is located on the banks of Brahmaputra River, and it is home to two-thirds of one-horned rhino population in the world. It is also home to some other species of mammals such as wild asiatic water buffalo, eastern swamp deer, sambar, gaur, Bengal tigers and leopards to name a few. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Shillong is the capital city of Meghalaya, and is also known as the “Rock Capital of India” with many musicians having western and local inspirations from the place. The night life and cafes of Shillong are not to miss out, as it has a unique vibe to it.

Cherrapunji has a lot to offer, you can go for cave exploring at Arwah and Mawsmai caves, which is one of the best and longest limestone caves in India. Seven sister waterfalls is a unique waterfall, which depicts all the seven sister states of Northeast. Nohkalikai waterfall is the highest plunge waterfall in India at 1000+ fts and also has a really interesting legend associated with it.

Dawki, located in West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, is a town snuggled between the border of India and Bangladesh. Dawki was once used only for trading between the two countries, but soon people discovered the beauty of the place and it was open to tourism and a popular site for adventure activities. The turquoise blue river, lush green forests, clean and calm surroundings makes this place a must visit in Meghalaya.
