About Maldives Tour Packages

A Maldives trip is built around the concept of island resort living. Most popular resorts occupy private islands, meaning the resort itself is the entire island. This gives travellers a level of privacy and peace that is difficult to find elsewhere. The two most common accommodation styles are beachfront villas with direct beach access and overwater villas built on stilts above the lagoon.

A customised Maldives tour package from India covers flights, speedboat or seaplane transfers to the resort, along with accommodation, meals, and selected activities. What makes our Maldives packages different at JustWravel is that these are not off-the-shelf bundles. We build each package from scratch, matching resort options, meal plans, transfer types, and room categories to your specific needs.

For couples, our Maldives couple packages and Maldives honeymoon packages include options like private beach dinners, optional spa add-ons, and romantic room setups. For families, we pick resorts that have kids' clubs, shallow lagoons safe for children, and family villa configurations. For travellers seeking premium stays and experiences, our Maldives luxury tour packages cover some of the finest resorts in the archipelago.

Maldives Tour Cost & Package Price

The cost of a Maldives trip from India depends on several factors, including the resort you choose, the type of room or villa, the meal plan, the duration of stay, and whether flights are included in the package. Here is a general breakdown to help you plan your budget.

  • Budget (3N/4D): INR 60,000 to 70,000 per person
  • Mid-Range (3N/4D): INR 1,10,000 to 1,45,000 per person
  • Luxury (3N/4D): INR 1,55,000 to 2,10,000+ per person

Prices may vary based on resort, room type, season, and inclusions. Contact JustWravel for a customized quote.

Key Factors That Affect Your Maldives Trip Cost:

  • Resort type and location: Private island resorts accessible by seaplane generally cost more than those reachable by speedboat from Malé.
  • Room category: Overwater villas with private pools are priced higher than beach villas or garden rooms.
  • Meal plan: All-inclusive plans that cover all meals, drinks, and some activities cost more upfront but save money overall.
  • Season: Peak season from November to April generally sees higher resort rates.
  • Flight booking timing: Booking flights well in advance can often help secure better fares.
  • Duration of stay: A 3-night, 4-day trip is one of the most popular and cost-effective options for first-time visitors.

Best Time to Visit Maldives

The Maldives has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year, typically ranging between 26°C and 32°C. The country experiences two main seasons: a dry season from November to April and a wet season, locally called the southwest monsoon, from May to October. Understanding these seasons helps you pick the right time for your Maldives trip based on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.

Peak Season (November to March): Tourists Favourite Season

November to April is the dry season in the Maldives and the most popular time to visit. During these months, the weather is mostly sunny, humidity is a little less, the sea is calm, and is the best time for underwater visibility for snorkeling and diving activities.

December, January, and February are the busiest months of the year. Christmas and New Year weeks see the highest demand and premium resort rates. This is the time when overwater villas in popular properties book out months in advance. If you are planning a peak-season trip, it is advisable to confirm your resort and flights at least 4 to 6 months ahead.

November and March generally offer similar weather conditions with slightly fewer crowds and better pricing compared to the peak holiday weeks.

Shoulder and Monsoon Months (May to October): Surfers' Favourite Season

April serves as a transition month and still experiences many dry-season conditions. May marks the beginning of the southwest monsoon, bringing increased rainfall, occasional storms, and stronger winds. However, the Maldives does not experience sustained heavy rain for days at a stretch.

During this season, many resorts offer lower rates, sometimes 25% to 40% lower than peak-season pricing. This makes it an attractive period for travellers looking for better value.

September and October are among the wettest months of the year, but they are also excellent for marine life encounters. Increased plankton levels attract manta rays and whale sharks, making these months popular among diving and snorkelling enthusiasts. Surfers also favour this season, particularly in the central and southern atolls, where wave conditions are at their best.

Maldives Visa for Indians

Indian travelers do not need to apply for a visa before visiting the Maldives. A tourist visa is granted free of charge on arrival at Velana International Airport in Male. The visa is valid for 30 days and can be extended up to 90 days upon request at the Department of Immigration in Male.

Documents Required for Maldives Visa on Arrival:

  • A valid passport with a Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) and at least 1 month of validity from the date of arrival. Note: Passports with extended validity beyond their original expiry date are not accepted.
  • A confirmed return flight ticket.
  • A confirmed hotel booking for the entire duration of your stay at a registered tourist facility, or proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay.
  • Documents required for your onward destination, if applicable.
  • A completed IMUGA Traveller Declaration.

IMUGA Traveler Declaration: All travelers entering the Maldives are required to complete the mandatory IMUGA Traveler Declaration form online. This must be submitted within 96 hours before your arrival date. It can be filled out at https://imuga.immigration.gov.mv/traveller and there is no charge for this form.

Travellers are advised to verify the latest entry and visa requirements before departure, as immigration rules may change from time to time.

Top Places to Visit in Maldives

While the Maldives is best known for its private resort islands, several inhabited islands and cities offer visitors a closer look at the country's culture, history, and everyday life. Here are some of the most popular places to visit in the Maldives.

Malé

Malé is the capital and most densely populated island in the Maldives. All the main government buildings, key mosques, markets, and the National Museum are located in Male. The Grand Friday Mosque is one of the largest and most important mosques in the country. The National Museum, located within Sultan Park, houses royal artefacts and historical collections that offer insights into the Maldives' past.

A short city tour of Malé is often included before or after a resort stay.

Hulhumalé

Hulhumalé is a reclaimed island located north of Malé and connected to Hulhulé Island and Velana International Airport via the Sinamalé Bridge. Developed as a planned urban settlement, it helps ease population pressure on the capital. The island features modern infrastructure, public beaches, and attractions such as the Hulhumalé Mosque, known for its contemporary Islamic architecture.

Many travellers use Hulhumalé as an overnight base when arriving late or departing early.

Maafushi

Maafushi is a local inhabited island in Kaafu Atoll, about 26 kilometres south of Male, reachable by a 45-minute speedboat ride. It has grown into the Maldives' most popular budget destination over the past decade. There are a wide range of guesthouses, dive centres, and water sports operators, making it an affordable base for travelers who want active experiences without paying resort island prices.

Maafushi is commonly included in budget Maldives packages as a day trip or multi-night stay.

Addu City

Addu City is the southernmost atoll and city in the Maldives, located about 540 kilometres south of Male, near the equator. It spans multiple islands connected by a 14-kilometre causeway, making it the only place in the Maldives where you can travel between islands on a bicycle or motorbike.

The region is also known for its natural landscapes, wetlands, and ecological sites, including Mathikilhi Eco Garden.

Top Beaches to Visit in Maldives

The Maldives is home to countless white-sand beaches, but some stand out for their natural beauty, unique features, and the experiences they offer. Here are some of the top beaches to visit in the Maldives.

Vaadhoo Beach (Sea of Stars), Raa Atoll

Vaadhoo Beach is famous for a rare natural phenomenon known as the Sea of Stars. At night, bioluminescent plankton in the water emit a blue glow when disturbed by waves or movement, creating a magical effect along the shoreline. The display is most visible on dark, moonless nights. During the day, Vaadhoo offers the classic Maldives experience of white sand, turquoise waters, and peaceful surroundings.

Fulhadhoo Beach, Baa Atoll

Fulhadhoo is a small island in Baa Atoll with a population of around 250 people. The beach stretches for several kilometres along the island's western shore and is considered one of the most naturally preserved in the Maldives. Forbes has included it in lists of the world's best beaches. Because the island sees very little commercial tourism, the reef is in excellent condition and the water is exceptionally clear. The underwater world here includes tropical fish, rays, turtles, and dolphins that are sometimes spotted close to shore. Getting to Fulhadhoo requires a boat to Goidhoo first, then a short transfer to the island.

Bikini Beach, Maafushi (Kaafu Atoll)

On most inhabited islands in the Maldives, swimwear is not permitted on public beaches. However, certain designated bikini beaches allow tourists to wear standard swimwear. Bikini Beach on Maafushi is one of the most well-known of these. It has white sand, clear blue water, and easy reef access for snorkeling from the shore. It is an accessible choice for budget travelers staying on local islands.

Dhigurah Beach, South Ari Atoll

Dhigurah is one of the longest inhabited islands in the Maldives, with a beach that stretches for several kilometres. Located in South Ari Atoll, the island is renowned for its proximity to areas where whale sharks can be spotted throughout the year. The beach remains relatively quiet and undeveloped, making it an excellent choice for travellers looking for an authentic local island experience combined with exceptional marine life encounters.

Things to Do in Maldives

Maldives is known for leisure and luxury, but reducing the destination to these two aspects alone overlooks the wide range of experiences it offers. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, both in and out of the water. Here is a look at the key experiences available across Maldives tour packages.

Water Sports Activities

Water sports are central to any Maldives trip. Most resorts and local island operators offer a full range of water-based activities. Snorkeling is the most accessible, with reefs reachable directly from many beaches. Scuba diving is extremely popular, with sites across the atolls ranging from gentle reef dives to dramatic wall dives.

Other water sports include kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, parasailing, jet skiing, and kite surfing. Surfing is popular in the central and southern atolls, particularly from May to October. Wakeboarding and flyboarding are available at some larger resorts. Many resorts include non-motorized water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding as complimentary with the package.

Coral Experiences

The Maldives has one of the richest coral ecosystems in the Indian Ocean. Snorkeling and diving allow you to see coral formations, reef fish, turtles, rays, and various shark species. In South Ari Atoll, whale shark sightings occur throughout the year. Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is one of the few places in the world where large numbers of manta rays gather to feed between May and November.

Many resorts, including Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, offer coral conservation or coral planting experiences for guests (at additional cost).

Spa

Spa experiences in the Maldives are a category of their own. Most mid-range and luxury resorts have dedicated spa facilities, many built over the water or in open-air settings with ocean views. Treatment menus include Ayurvedic therapies, Balinese massage, deep tissue treatments, body wraps, and facials.

At NH Maldives Kuda Rah Resort, the spa features six treatment sanctuaries, including overwater treatment rooms with an underwater music system.

Cruise

Sunset cruises and dolphin-watching excursions are widely available across the Maldives. These run in the late afternoon on traditional Dhoni boats or modern catamarans. Dolphins are frequently spotted in the waters between atolls during the calmer months. Some resorts offer private sunset cruise add-ons for couples.

Shopping

Shopping is not the main attraction in the Maldives, but there are options for travellers who want to take home local souvenirs. Malé offers the widest selection, including the Malé Local Market, Majeedhee Magu shopping street, and souvenir stores near the waterfront.

Popular souvenirs include traditional lacquerware, locally made coconut products, coral-inspired jewellery, and resort merchandise. Resort boutiques also stock branded clothing, dive equipment, and local handicrafts, although prices are generally higher than in Malé.

Food Experiences in Maldives

Here are some traditional Maldivian dishes worth trying during your trip:

Mas Huni

A popular breakfast dish made with smoked tuna, grated coconut, onion, and chilli, usually served with flatbread known as roshi.

Garudhiya

A traditional fish broth that is widely regarded as the national dish of the Maldives.

Rihaakuru

A thick and savoury fish paste made by slowly reducing tuna broth over several hours. It is a staple in Maldivian cuisine.

Masroshi

A stuffed flatbread traditionally filled with tuna, coconut, onion, and spices, commonly enjoyed as a snack.

At resort islands, dining is largely international. Most large resorts have multiple restaurants serving Indian, Asian, Italian, and Mediterranean cuisines. Many also offer unique dining experiences such as private beach dinners, overwater dining setups, and picnic lunches on uninhabited sandbanks.

How to Reach Maldives

The only practical way to reach the Maldives from India is by air. All international flights land at Velana International Airport, located on Hulhulé Island near Malé. There is no regular passenger ferry or cruise service between India and the Maldives.

Direct flights from India To Maldives:

  • Mumbai: Approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Air India and IndiGo operate direct services.
  • Bangalore: Approximately 2 hours, making it one of the shortest routes from India.
  • Kochi: Approximately 2 hours 15 minutes. A convenient option for travellers from South India.
  • Delhi: Approximately 4 to 5 hours. Direct and connecting flight options are available.
  • Chennai and Hyderabad: Direct flights may operate depending on airline schedules and season. Connecting routes via Bengaluru are also available.

Note: Flight durations may vary depending on weather conditions, airline schedules, and layover times for connecting flights.

Reaching Your Resort After Landing

  • Speedboat: The most common transfer option for resorts in North Malé Atoll and South Malé Atoll. Journey times usually range from 15 to 45 minutes.
  • Seaplane: Commonly used for resorts in more distant atolls such as Baa Atoll, Noonu Atoll, and parts of South Ari Atoll. Seaplanes operate only during daylight hours. Transfer times are typically between 25 and 45 minutes. If your international flight arrives after seaplane operating hours, an overnight stay near the airport may be required.
  • Domestic Flight: Resorts located in remote atolls may require a domestic flight followed by a speedboat transfer. Depending on the destination, domestic flight times generally range from 30 to 60 minutes. Siyam World in Noonu Atoll is one example that can be accessed via Maafaru International Airport.

Always check your resort's transfer type and operating hours when booking your international flights. A mismatch between your flight arrival time and your transfer window can result in an unplanned overnight stay near the airport.

Essential Tips to Know Before Traveling to Maldives

Currency & Payments

  • The official currency of the Maldives is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR). However, US dollars are widely accepted at resort islands, guesthouses, and most tourist establishments. Prices at resorts are usually quoted in US dollars.
  • Credit and debit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are widely accepted at resorts, hotels, and restaurants in Malé and Hulhumalé.
  • Indian Rupees are generally not accepted at tourist establishments. Inform your bank about your travel plans before departure to avoid any issues with overseas transactions.
  • ATMs are available in Malé and Hulhumalé but are not commonly found on resort islands.

Tip: When visiting local islands or smaller establishments, carrying some US dollar cash can be useful.

Local Transport & Getting Around

  • Within Malé and Hulhumalé, taxis and motorbikes are the main modes of local transport. Most resorts also provide internal buggy or shuttle services for guests.
  • Island hopping between local islands is possible via public ferries operated by MTCC. These services are affordable but operate on fixed schedules and can take longer than private transfers.
  • Speedboats are widely used for faster transfers between islands and can be arranged through resorts or local operators.
  • Domestic airlines (Maldivian Airlines and FlyMe) connect Male to Addu City and other distant atolls. On Addu City, the 14-kilometre causeway connecting the islands makes cycling or motorbike hire a practical way to get around.

Rules & Regulations

The Maldives is a Muslim country, and visitors are expected to respect local customs and laws. Here are some important guidelines:

  • Alcohol is available only at licensed resort islands and liveaboard vessels. It is not permitted on local inhabited islands.
  • Dress modestly when visiting Malé and local islands. Shoulders and knees should generally be covered in public areas.
  • Swimwear should only be worn at resort beaches or designated bikini beaches on local islands.
  • Public intoxication is illegal outside licensed resort and tourism areas.
  • Pork and pork products are prohibited from being imported into the country.
  • During Ramadan, be mindful of local customs and avoid eating, drinking, or smoking in public during daylight hours on local islands.
  • Do not photograph local residents without their permission.
  • Coral reefs and marine life are protected. Do not touch, stand on, collect, or damage coral, and avoid feeding marine animals.

Packing & Travel Essentials

  • Reef-safe sunscreen (strongly recommended to protect coral reefs), sunglasses, and a hat.
  • Light and breathable clothing for resort stays.
  • Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees for local island visits.
  • Swimwear and a cover-up for moving between beach and restaurant at resorts.
  • A waterproof bag or pouch for water activities and speedboat transfers.
  • Personal medications and basic medical essentials.
  • Travel insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation, and water sports activities.
  • A universal power adapter: Maldives uses UK-type three-pin plugs (Type G).
  • An underwater camera or waterproof phone case if you plan to snorkel or dive.
  • US dollar cash for tips and small purchases.

Why Choose Customized Maldives Tour Packages

The Maldives has multiple resorts across 26 atolls, various transfer types, meal plans, and prices that shift significantly by season, room category, and inclusions. Making the right choice without guidance often means overpaying for a resort that does not match your needs, or missing an experience that would have made your trip far better.

At JustWravel, we plan Maldives packages that are built around you. Here is what that means in practice:

  • No fixed itineraries: Your trip is not a template pulled off the shelf. We ask about your travel dates, budget, travel style, and what matters most to you before suggesting a single option.
  • Resort matching: We have direct experience with the properties we recommend and match you to a resort based on whether you are a couple, a family with young children, a group looking for activities, or someone who wants peace and privacy above everything else.
  • Transparent pricing: We show you what is included and what is not. There are no charges added at checkout that were not discussed upfront.
  • Flexible planning: Want to extend your stay, swap a beach villa for an overwater room, or add a diving session? We handle changes with a single point of contact throughout.
  • End-to-end support: Even before the confirmation to return, our team checks in at key stages and is reachable if anything comes up during travel.
  • Indian traveler-friendly: We understand the preferences that matter most to Indian travelers, from Indian food options at resorts to flight timing considerations from major Indian cities.

A customized Maldives trip from JustWravel is about making sure every part of your trip, from your first flight to your last speedboat transfer, works together without any problems. That is what has made JustWravel a trusted name for international travel packages, and we bring that same approach to every Maldives package we plan.
