Overview

The state which is known as ‘Heart of India’ has a lot to offer in terms of exploration, arts, culture, history and tradition. Madhya Pradesh is also the second largest state of India, making it a unique proposition altogether.

We start our 12 nights 13 days Madhya Pradesh Tour from the city of Bhopal. Bhopal is the capital city of Madhya Pradesh which was founded back in 1707. Bhopal has so much to offer to a traveller looking to explore its soul, sights, and sounds. The historic areas perfectly amalgamate  with the modern well-planned urban developments. There are two main lakes – the Upper Lake and the Lower Lake, which form the nucleus of the city.

Panchmarhi is a hill station located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. It is also known as ‘Satpura ki Rani’ or the ‘Queen of Satpura’. It is located at an average altitude of 1,067 mts and its highest point goes up to 1,352mts, known as Dhupgarh. It is known for its lush green beauty and scenic landscapes all around which has a certain charm to attract the visitors. It is also recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere reserve and has many waterfalls in it.

Kanha Tiger Reserve or Kanha National Park is one of the largest national parks in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is spread over 940km² in area. It has a significant population of royal Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, sloth bears, barasinghas and Indian wild dogs. The forest depicted in The Jungle Book, a novel by Rudyard Kipling is based on jungles including this reserve. It is also the first tiger reserve in India to officially introduce a mascot, Bhoorsingh the Barasingha (a swamp deer).

Jabalpur is one of the most important cities of Madhya Pradesh and is also known as the ‘City of Rocks’ due to granite boulders and other huge boulders which are common throughout the city. There are some famous trekking sites and national parks which are accessible from the city of Jabalpur. While you are in Jabalpur, don’t miss out on the local markets and delicacies while you go out for a stroll in the evening.

Khajuraho is known for its ancient temples and their finest art in the world. These temples come under UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of its exceptional architectural skill and stunning displays of fine sculptures.

Almost all of these temples were built during the time of Chandela dynasty. These temples are classified into 3 groups: Western Group of Temples, Eastern Group of Temples, and Southern Group of Temples.

Orchha village lies on the banks of Betwa River of Madhya Pradesh and is almost 400 km from Delhi. This ancient village served as the capital of Bundelkhand between the 16th and 18th century. Although distinctly Rajput in style, the architecture was also heavily influenced by the Mughals.

The best time to visit for the tourists is during the winter (October to March) and monsoon period (July to September) season as the temperature remains pleasant through the day.
