Chopta is a tiny hill station and a part of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, which houses green meadows and dense forest. Situated at a height of 2680 meters above the sea level, the place is considered one of the best locations for camping in the state of Uttarakhand. Chopta is also the starting point of treks to Tungnath, which is the world's highest Shiva temple and Chandrashila peak.
Chopta is known for its serene beauty of its evergreen meadows and majestic views of valleys and snowcapped peaks. The place is girded by dense forest of pine, deodar and rhododendron and is famous for musk deer and rare species of birds such as Monal.
