Overview Overview

Uttarakhand is blessed with raw natural beauty and also places that are perfect for a family getaway. Uttarakhand has many mountain peaks, lush green forests which have many hiking and trekking trails for you to indulge in and be closer to nature.

We start our 3 Nights 4 Days Lansdowne Corbett Trip from Lansdowne. Lansdowne is a town at an altitude of 1,780mts, located in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. In olden times, Lansdowne was known as “Kaludanda” which meant “Black Forest” in Garhwali, “Kalu” meaning black and “Danda” meaning forest. It was changed to Lansdowne in 1887 to cater to the British regiment which ruled here.

Lansdowne has many places to visit, one of them being Bhulla Tal, which is located around 1kms from the city centre and you can even hike to this place. This lake is maintained by the Indian Army and it is a famous picnic spot amongst the locals.

Tip n Top point in Lansdowne is a hill where you can catch the sight of the skyline and the mountain ranges of the Shivalik. It is around 1.5kms from the main city centre which makes it a convenient place to go for a hike. Near this point, you will also find a famous local church, known as St. Mary’s Church. This church was built in 1895 and the architecture is something to marvel at. This place is surely gonna leave you spellbound with its serene and calm atmosphere.

The famous War Memorial of Lansdowne was built in 1923, by then Commander of Chief in India, Lord Rawlinson of Trent. This museum showcases the achievements of the Garhwal regiment of the Indian army. This place is great for history buffs who have a keen interest in the past developments and achievements of the Indian army. Another museum Darwan Singh museum is a historical museum named after first Victoria cross holder, Darwan Singh Negi and it houses the rarest collections of Garhwal rifles. Amidst the thick forests of cedar and pine, is a temple which is known by the name of Tarkeshwar Temple, which is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located in quite surreal surroundings surrounded by greenery and mountain ranges around.

Jim Corbett National Park is a delight for nature lovers as it has around 500sq kms of forests, rivers, marshy lands, hills and rough terrains. It is home to a large number of animal species which includes tigers, leopards, black bear, mongoose, moose and otters. While here, you can go for a jungle safari, which gives you a sneak peek into the lives of these wild animals in enthralling landscapes and forests. Also visit Jim Corbett museum, which is dedicated to the life’s work of Jim Corbett, on whose name the national park is dedicated. You will also find a surreal waterfall amidst the jungle, known as Corbett falls, which is sure to mesmerise you.
