Jibhi Road Trip - Tirthan Valley Weekend Trip

View photos

Don’t you feel like running away from the stressful city and look for a place of seclusion amongst hills and meadows? Well, the place that you might be looking for is Jibhi.

Jibhi is situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh in the Banjar Valley.

It’s a scenic and old village that has settled on the banks of the Tirthan river. This gurgling river is a tributary of the Beas river. It serves as an integral part of the culture of Jibhi.

Constructed in an old Himalayan way, the architecture of the place vouches for itself. Most of the houses are built from stone and wood.

Galgal trees and apple orchards decorate every backyard in the Himalayan village. This destination has become extremely popular among travelers in recent years.

However, foreign tourists discovered this gem of a place more than two decades ago. Of course, during that time, there was hardly any infrastructure to boost tourism in the place.

On the same note, the village is still not completely commercialized as the only accommodation you’ll find are homestays that are run by locals.

The itinerary for the Jibhi Road Trip includes Serolsar Lake Trek. It’s a convenient trek from the Jalori Pass and is surrounded by thick forests.

Some famous places to visit in Jibhi are Cheni Kothi and Shringa Rishi Temple.

The Cheni village is only 7 kilometers away from Jibhi and the majority of the distance can be covered by cars. The road comes to an end almost 1 km away from the Chehni tower.

While exploring this place, you’ll pass the Shringa Rishi temple that lies below Cheni at Bagi village. This village is built in a similar manner to that of the Cheni fort.

However, it’s been renovated recently. Shringa Rishi is the deity of the Banjar valley.

The Cheni Kothi has also been built in an ancient Himalayan architectural style. This is a watch-tower for the neighboring Cheni village.

An interesting fact about Jibhi is that this structure has been withstanding environmental factors for more than 3 centuries. Only in the earthquake of 1905 did it lose the upper two stories.

This fort is included in the itinerary for the Jibhi Road Trip as well.

Another famous place to visit is the Sheshnag Temple. Within Jibhi, a short trail will lead you to the Sheshnag Temple. This is situated right in the middle of a beautiful and lush meadow.

Just like Shringa Rishi, Sheshnag is another presiding deity of the Banjar valley. Both enjoy their devotees’ following and worship.

The wooden architecture seems to be ancient. In fact, it’s claimed by Hansraj that the temple is more than 500 years old. However, the actual age is still unknown.

Thus, the history of Jibhi is quite mysterious and alluring.

Spending time in the peaceful, green meadows will be sure to calm your senses and make your worries disappear.

When is the best time to visit Jibhi? Well, the village is definitely quiet and relaxed almost all throughout the year, making for an amazing road trip either way.

However, the spring season is a refreshing time where apple orchards bloom in the valley. Thus, March to May would be one of the best months to visit the wonderful and beautiful destination as the weather in Jibhi is pleasant.

The reasons you need to check the Jibhi Road Trip in 2020 are far more than many. But, if you still have doubts then let us clear them up while you are on the Jibhi Road Trip with JustWravel.

If it rains at the campsite then there would not be any problem because all our living tents, kitchen tents and toilet tents are waterproof. You will stay dry inside.

Differs from person to person. If you think that it would help you maintaining balance while trekking then do bring the pole. Some people think that trekking pole disturbs the walking rhythm. So it’s upto you.

I have been on two trips (Jalori Pass and Nag Tibba) with the JustWravel team (till now, many more to come) and the experience has been amazing. The transportation, food, trek, and accommodation arrangements are worth it for the price charged. The team members—Rohan and Nishant—are very helpful. The best part of JustWravel trips are the people that you get to meet. I found my wife here ;)
