Ladakh has always been a land people dream about long before they plan it.
A place defined by distance, altitude, and silence. Roads that demand focus. Landscapes that stay in memory.
This Delhi to Leh Ladakh bike trip is a complete circuit designed for travelers who want to experience Ladakh beyond the usual tourist route. It covers Ladakh most iconic valleys, lakes, and high-altitude passes including Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, Hanle, and Umling La, followed by a scenic return journey via Kargil and Srinagar.
It is a full Ladakh bike trip circuit built for travelers who want to cover the region properly—by road, with the right pace and route.
Most Ladakh trips are limited to Leh, Nubra, and Pangong. This bike trip itinerary goes beyond that by including Hanle and Umling La, making it a complete expedition for riders who want the offbeat side of Ladakh along with the famous landmarks.
The bike trip is planned with a gradual journey into the Himalayas, starting from Delhi and entering Ladakh through the Manali–Leh highway.
It gives you the full experience of high passes, remote roads, and long open stretches that make Ladakh a dream destination for bikers.
The journey begins in Delhi with an overnight Volvo ride to Manali. After a short briefing with the trip captains, the road trip officially begins as the group heads toward the mountains.
Manali acts as the base before the high-altitude route starts, giving you time to rest and prepare for the journey ahead.
Arrival in Manali works as a break before the bike expedition begins. After check-in, the day is kept free for rest and local exploration.
Travelers can explore markets, cafés, and nearby areas before heading toward the Manali–Leh route.
The climb into the Himalayas begins as we ride from Manali to Sarchu via the Atal Tunnel and Baralacha La Pass. The route passes through scenic stretches like Sissu Valley, Keylong, Jispa, and Darcha, with stops at Deepak Tal, Zing Zing Bar, and Suraj Tal.
From Sarchu, the journey continues towards Leh through the famous Gata Loops, along with high-altitude passes like Nakee La, Lachung La, and Tanglang La, followed by the open landscapes of the More Plains. This is one of the most iconic parts of any Leh Ladakh bike trip.
After reaching Leh, the bike trip moves into Ladakh most famous circuit. The journey includes Shanti Stupa, followed by the ride to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass, known as one of the highest motorable roads in the world.
Nubra Valley is known for the Hunder Sand Dunes, and travelers can also opt for bactrian camel rides and ATV activities. From Nubra, the route continues towards Pangong Tso, with a stop at Diskit Monastery, home to the 106 ft Maitreya Buddha statue.
Pangong Lake is one of the major highlights of the trip, known for its changing shades and night skies.
From Pangong, the route enters the remote landscapes of Changthang Valley, covering key points like Chushul, Tsaga Village, and Loma, along with a stop at the Rezang La War Memorial.
The journey continues towards Hanle, one of Ladakh’s highest villages and a known stargazing destination. The next day is the highlight of the expedition—an excursion to Umling La Pass (19,024 ft), known as one of the highest motorable passes in the world.
This section of the itinerary is what makes the trip a true Ladakh bike expedition rather than a regular tour.
After returning to Leh via Chumathang hot springs, Shey Palace, and Thiksey Monastery, the trip continues toward Kargil.
The route includes stops at Sangam (Indus-Zanskar Confluence), Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, and the scenic landscapes of Lamayuru, along with passes like Fotu La and Namika La.
From Kargil, the journey moves towards Srinagar via Dras, including a visit to the Kargil War Memorial and the final pass crossing at Zojila Pass, before reaching Srinagar.
The trip ends with a houseboat stay near Dal Lake, completing a full circuit from Delhi to Ladakh and Kashmir.
This package includes Volvo travel from Delhi to Manali, accommodation, meals (MAP plan), inner line permits, a trip leader, backup support, mechanical assistance, and essential safety equipment including oxygen cylinders and first aid.
For those opting for biking, the trip also includes bike rent and fuel from Sarchu to Srinagar along with basic riding gear.
This Leh Ladakh bike trip itinerary from Delhi is not about rushing from one attraction to another. It is about experiencing Ladakh as a whole. From Manali to Sarchu, Leh to Nubra, Pangong to Hanle, Umling La to Kargil, and finally Srinagar, the circuit connects geography, culture, and history into one continuous journey.

The Ladakh bike trip cost depends on your vehicle choice. For this 12-day full circuit, the price varies for those opting for a Royal Enfield Himalayan (Solo or Dual rider) versus those choosing the Tempo Traveller. Our all-inclusive Ladakh bike tour package typically includes fuel, stays, permits, and two meals a day, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
Yes, this trip is designed for both experienced riders and beginners with basic riding confidence. Since we travel in a guided convoy with a professional trip captain, mechanical support, and a backup vehicle, you are never alone on the road.
To tackle altitude sickness in Ladakh, our itinerary follows a gradual ascent. We include mandatory rest days in Manali and Leh for better acclimatization. Our backup vehicle is equipped with oxygen cylinders and oximeters, and our team is trained to monitor your health regularly, especially at high-altitude stops like Sarchu and Hanle.
You must carry a valid original Government Photo ID (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or Passport). For those riding, a valid Driving License is compulsory. We also recommend carrying 4-5 passport-size photographs for processing your Inner Line Permits (ILP) for restricted areas like Hanle and Umling La.
The best time for a Ladakh bike trip is from June to September. During this window, the Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways are open, and the weather is suitable for long-distance riding.
If you want to see snow-walled roads, June is ideal; for stable weather and clear views of Pangong and Hanle, July and August are preferred.
Yes, for riders choosing our bike rental option, the fuel for the entire circuit (from Sarchu/Leh till the end of the biking leg) is included. You won’t have to worry about petrol availability in remote areas like Hanle or Changthang.
You don't need to carry your heavy bags on the motorcycle. A dedicated backup vehicle follows the convoy and carries all travelers' luggage. You only need a small daypack for your camera, water, and essential documents.
Connectivity is limited in remote Ladakh. Airtel and Jio (Postpaid) work well in Leh and Srinagar. However, in Nubra, Pangong, and Hanle, signals are very weak or non-existent. BSNL is the only network with occasional coverage in these offbeat zones.
We provide well-maintained Royal Enfield Himalayan 411cc or 450cc bikes. These machines are specifically chosen for their high ground clearance and performance at the extreme Umling La pass altitude of 19,024 ft.
No, ATMs are only reliable in Manali, Leh, and Kargil. There are no functional ATMs in Sarchu, Nubra, Pangong, or Hanle. We strongly recommend carrying enough cash for personal expenses from Leh itself.
You don't need to worry about the permits. JustWravel arranges all necessary Inner Line Permits for our travelers as part of the package. You only need to provide the required documents during the tour briefing.
Yes, for those who don't want to ride a bike, we have a Tempo Traveller option for the same 12-day circuit. You get to travel with the same group, stay in the same locations, and enjoy the same sightseeing highlights with added comfort.

The adventure begins with an overnight journey from Delhi to Manali, followed by a high-altitude ride on the Manali-Leh highway via Sarchu.
Upon reaching Leh, the route continues through Ladakh’s most famous regions—including Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Hanle, and Umling La Pass—making it a true Ladakh circuit itinerary designed for riders who want more than just the standard Leh sightseeing plan.
The return journey follows the scenic and historically rich Leh-Srinagar route, covering Kargil, Dras, and Zojila Pass before ending in Srinagar.
Full Route Circuit:
Delhi → Manali → Sarchu → Leh → Nubra → Pangong → Hanle → Umling La → Leh → Kargil → Srinagar
This Ladakh bike trip from Delhi is a fixed departure expedition with a total duration of 11N/12D. All travelers must report at the Delhi pickup point on time for group assembly and a short briefing before departure.
Important Note: Since this is a Delhi to Srinagar circuit, return flights or trains should be planned from Srinagar on Day 12 (check the drop schedule before booking).
The journey begins in Delhi, where the group assembles at the reporting point. We start with an overnight Volvo ride from Delhi to Manali.
Important: The biking expedition officially starts from Sarchu, where the bikes will be allotted to the riders.
Delhi is well-connected by flights, trains, and buses from all major Indian cities. Travelers are advised to reach Delhi well before the reporting time (tentatively 07:00 PM) to avoid any last-minute delays.
Since the trip concludes in Srinagar on Day 12, return flights should be planned from Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport (SXR).
Note: Please confirm the final drop schedule with the team before booking your return tickets.
This trip offers both biking and Tempo Traveller options, making it suitable for riders as well as non-riders.
For Bikers: The riding expedition officially begins from Sarchu, and the entire Ladakh circuit is covered in a guided convoy with backup support.
For Non-Riders: For travelers choosing comfort over riding, a Tempo Traveller option is available that follows the same itinerary and sightseeing coverage.
This expedition is graded as moderate to challenging due to long riding hours, high-altitude passes, and varying terrain.
If you are wondering, "Is this Ladakh bike trip too difficult?"—the answer depends on your physical fitness and riding comfort. However, even beginners with basic riding experience can join, as the tour is fully guided, monitored by marshals, and accompanied by a backup vehicle for support.
This itinerary is a perfect choice for first-time explorers as well as experienced riders who specifically want to cover the offbeat circuits of Umling La and Hanle.
This Ladakh bike trip from Delhi includes a ride to one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Due to the extreme Umling La pass altitude, proper acclimatization becomes the most important part of this expedition.
The ride is planned via the Hanle to Umling La route, which is a remote high-altitude zone with thin oxygen levels.
To minimize the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), travelers are strictly advised to follow basic acclimatization protocols:
Important: Special caution is needed during the stays at Sarchu and Hanle, as these locations are extremely cold and physically demanding due to the thin air at night.
The best time for a Ladakh bike trip is from June to September, when the high-altitude passes are open and weather conditions are favorable for long-distance riding.
This period marks the peak season, especially for circuits covering remote regions like Pangong, Hanle, and Umling La.
The Manali–Leh highway usually opens by early June, making it an exciting time to start. You might witness massive snow walls at Baralacha La and Rohtang. Days are pleasant, but nights in Sarchu and Hanle remain extremely cold.
July is considered the peak month for biking in Ladakh. The roads are clearer, water crossings (nullahs) settle down, and all remote routes—including the crucial Hanle to Umling La stretch—are fully accessible.
August offers the most stable weather conditions. Since Ladakh falls in a rain-shadow region, it remains dry even when the rest of India experiences monsoon. This is ideal for riders attempting the full Delhi-Leh-Srinagar circuit.
September brings crisp air, crystal-clear visibility, and fewer tourists. The landscapes start turning golden/brown, offering stunning photography opportunities. However, nights start getting significantly colder, so heavy woolens are a must.
Manali–Leh Highway Status:
For this itinerary, the safest travel window is mid-June to mid-September, as the Manali–Leh highway is reliably open and safe for convoys during these months.
This Ladakh bike trip covers the most iconic passes, lakes, valleys, cultural landmarks, and scenic routes, making it the ultimate Himalayan bike adventure.
These highlights ensure the trip is not only a bike adventure but also a cultural, scenic, and high-altitude experience that covers the best of Ladakh roads and landscapes.
While our itinerary covers all major sightseeing points, you can enhance your experience with these optional activities (available at personal expense):
Nubra Valley (Hunder Sand Dunes):
At Pangong Tso:
To ensure a safe and smooth expedition, this bike trip is fully supported by a professional ground team.
All required Inner Line Permits for restricted areas—including Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Hanle, and Umling La are arranged as part of the package, so travelers do not need to manage the paperwork separately.
Mandatory Documents to Carry:
Important Note: Please carry both original documents and soft copies on your phone to ensure smooth verification at various military checkpoints.
Mobile Connectivity:
Electricity & Power Backup:
Cash & ATMs:
This Delhi to Leh-Ladakh Bike Expedition is not just a road trip; it’s a test of endurance, a journey through the rawest landscapes on Earth, and a story you will tell for a lifetime.
From the lush green valleys of Manali to the barren beauty of Nubra, from the stillness of Pangong Lake to the thin air of Umling La (19,024 ft)—every kilometer of this circuit will challenge and change you.
Whether you are a rider chasing the thrill of the throttle or a traveler seeking the silence of the mountains, this journey promises memories that no camera can fully capture. The roads are calling, the passes await, and the adventure of a lifetime is just a ride away.
