If you're craving true peace and happiness, remember Bhutan is waiting for you. Bhutan, also known as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon," famously measures "Gross National Happiness" instead of GDP. This unique philosophy makes Bhutan a unique destination for those seeking a transformative experience. With stunning natural beauty and a rich culture steeped in tradition and Buddhism, Bhutan offers a truly transformative experience for travelers.

Your Ultimate Bhutan Group Tour by Road

This isn't just a tour; it's a Bhutan road trip adventure. Your adventure begins at Bagdogra Airport (IXB), where our representative will welcome you and transfer you to Phuentsholing, the vibrant border town and your gateway to the kingdom. Here, you'll experience a captivating blend of traditional and modern elements that provide a glimpse into Bhutan's unique culture and architecture. This Bhutan tour package lets you witness the landscape change dramatically from the plains of India to the majestic mountains of Bhutan.

The Journey: From the Capital to Ancient Valleys

Thimphu & Punakha Highlights

Your scenic drive continues to Thimphu, Bhutan's charming capital. Thimphu offers a fascinating mix of tradition and modernity, giving you an insightful view into Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. Here, you'll uncover cultural treasures like the Tashichho Dzong (the seat of government) and see the entire valley from the serene Buddha Point.

Next, this trip takes you to Punakha(the ancient capital), a picturesque town nestled between the Punatsangchu and Phochu rivers. Here, you'll explore the stunning Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel set at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.

The Spiritual Heart: Paro and The Iconic Tiger Nest Monastery

No Bhutan group trip is complete without visiting Paro. Here, you'll prepare for the challenging yet deeply rewarding hike to the Tiger Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang), a sacred Buddhist temple perched on a cliff overlooking the Paro Valley. This sacred site is the spiritual highlight of any Bhutan tour package. Reaching the monastery will be a spiritual experience, where you can marvel at the temple's unique architecture and soak in the peaceful ambiance.

In Paro, you'll also visit the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang (one of Bhutan's oldest temples), the National Museum of Bhutan (offer a fascinating collection of artifacts and exhibits showcasing Bhutan's history and traditions), and the formidable Paro Dzong (a fortress-monastery with stunning views of the Paro Valley).

Everything You Need to Know About Bhutan

Bhutan, the "Land of the Thunder Dragon," is a realm of breathtaking landscapes, ancient monasteries, and vibrant culture. Nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, this kingdom is renowned for its commitment to Gross National Happiness (GNH).

When considering your Bhutan travel packages, understand that this is a country where tradition and modernity harmoniously coexist. You'll encounter majestic dzongs (fortress monasteries), colorful prayer flags, and locals in traditional attire. Planning your journey involves understanding all options, from our all-inclusive Bhutan group tour packages to more independent trips. The Bhutan trip cost can vary, but a well-structured Bhutan road trip package like this one helps you make the most of your time.

Responsible tourism is key. A simple greeting of "Kuzuzangpo la" (hello) will be met with warm smiles. It's also important to dress modestly when visiting religious sites.

To discover more essential information, go through our detailed Bhutan Travel Guide and read our key travel tips for Bhutan.

Best Time to Visit Bhutan

Choosing the right time for your Bhutan trip depends on your priorities.

Peak Season: Spring (March-May) & Autumn (Sept-Nov)

These are the most popular months. The weather is perfect, with clear blue skies, making it ideal for this Bhutan road trip and the hike to Tiger's Nest.

  • Spring (March-May): The valleys are vibrant with blooming rhododendrons. This is also when the famous Paro Tshechu (festival) typically takes place.
  • Autumn (Sept-Nov): This season is famous for crisp air and crystal-clear Himalayan views. A Bhutan trip in October is a top choice for photographers.

Important Note: Because this is peak season, you will experience more tourists, especially at popular sites and during festival dates. Flights and our Bhutan group tour slots fill up months in advance, so booking early is essential.

Off-Season: Monsoon (June-Aug) & Winter (Dec-Feb)

  • Monsoon (June-Aug): The summer monsoon brings heavy rain, which makes the landscapes incredibly lush and green. However, it can cause travel delays.
  • Winter (Dec-Feb): This is a great time for travelers who want to avoid crowds. The skies are often brilliantly clear, but be prepared for cold temperatures.

For a complete seasonal breakdown, read our detailed guide on the best time to visit Bhutan.

Bhutan Entry Requirements: Permits & Fees

Understanding the entry process is the most critical step in planning your Bhutan trip. Bhutan's unique policy has recently been updated.

For Indian Tourists(Entry Permit & SDF): This is the essential information you need for this Bhutan road trip:

  • Permit, Not Visa: Indian citizens do not need a 'visa'. You are required to get an 'Entry Permit'.
  • Required Documents: You must have an original Passport (with 6 months validity) or a Voter ID Card.
  • Important: An Aadhaar card is not accepted as a valid entry document.
  • Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) for Indians: All Indian tourists must pay a daily SDF of ₹1,200 per person.

How We Make It Easy for Your Group Tour: As part of our Bhutan package, we pre-arrange all your permits and paperwork in advance. This means you get a seamless, hassle-free entry at the Phuentsholing land border.

How to Reach Bhutan

The Land Route: Our Road Trip Starting Point

This Bhutan road trip is designed to give you the full overland experience, starting from the Indian border. Here is the process for this tour:

  1. Arrive at Bagdogra (IXB): Your journey begins when you fly into Bagdogra Airport (IXB) in West Bengal. This is the nearest major Indian airport and the perfect start for your Bhutan trip from India.
  2. Drive to the Border: From Bagdogra, our team will pick you up and we will drive for approximately 4-5 hours to the border town of Phuentsholing.
  3. Cross into Bhutan: Phuentsholing is the main land entry point. Here, we will complete your entry permit formalities before officially driving across the border.

Alternative: Flying Directly to Paro

While our tour is a road trip, the other option is to fly directly into Paro International Airport (PBH). The flight to Paro is famous for its breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Drukair and Bhutan Airlines operate flights from several cities, including Delhi, Kolkata, and Kathmandu.

To explore all your options in detail, read our complete guide on how to reach Bhutan.

What our Clients Say About Us

It’s always been an incredible experience with Justwravel! Well organized, decent accommodations at affordable price and amazing staff right from sales to trip captains. I have done 3 trips already and the trip captains from all 3 trips have been amazing individuals, Shashank and Deeksha from Meghalaya trip, Aniket from Bhutan trip and Shashank and Kavindra from Ladakh trip Very flexible no rush captains. They all rather seemed like co-travelers and had great time together. If you are a solo traveler, or friends, or couples or siblings who want to meet new people and travel together, Justwravel has some really good itineraries and will help you accommodate throughout the trip.

I recently took a trip to Bhutan with JustWravel. It was a fun filled and worth it experience. All the arrangements were organised well in advance. The itinerary covered all the major tourist spots which suited best within the time available to us. My co-travellers were great, cooperative and understanding. Lastly, Abhishek, our trip lead and Tashi, our trip guide, were determined, confident and helpful. A special thanks to the music played by Abhishek during the trip. Thank you JW, Abhishek and Tashi for such a wonderful experience.

Well we enjoyed our Bhutan individual trip. I wish we had more adventurous activities to enjoy. Plus try to check the accommodation. In Punakha we couldn't open the curtains as there was construction going on exactly in front of our window. And also it would be better if driver or guide knows where will we get authentic local food. Thank you ?? and all the best.

A trip of a lifetime❤️!! This was my first group trip and road trip to Spiti valley which was excellent. All strangers become close friends by the end of the trip and all of us feel like going on another trip with the same group. The stay was very comfortable and clean, beautiful peaceful locations with perfect mountains and sunrise view. All the sight seeing and activities like trekking, hiking were really good. Special thanks to Captain Divya❤️. She gave her best efforts in the entire journey to make it more enjoyable and memorable. We really had a good time with you. Such a kind and humble captain we had with Great responsibility. The best captain I can say. Overall I would say I would come again on another trip with Justwravel. I recently went to Winter Spiti Valley trip with JustWravel which ended up being more as a trip with best friends. JustWravel had everything sorted for us be it transportation, safety, constant checkups, personalised care , accommodation, food and everything was super comfortable and amazing. Then it comes to the best part of this trip our trip captains - Abhishek and Ramneek He treated us like their own brother from day one and made sure all of us are having the time of our lives. They had constant checkups to ensure all of us are doing great physically. They had good knowledge about the place and shared the same with us as well. I would surely plan my next trip with JustWravel. I would like to mention an instance: I forgot my bag in the Volvo bus and there was nothing important in that bag but our captains still went out of their way to ensure that I got my bag safely.
