FAQ
JustWravel offers three Bhutan group tour packages: A 6N/7D Bhutan Road Trip, a 7N/8D Bhutan Group Tour with Phobjikha Valley, and a 7N/8D Bhutan Bike and Backpacking Tour. All three run on fixed departure dates from Bagdogra with a dedicated trip leader.
Pricing starts from ₹45000 for the road trip, ₹45000 for the 8-day Phobjikha Valley tour, and ₹43000 for the bike trip. Note that the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of ₹1,200 per person per night is included in the package. Check individual package pages for exact per-person costs and batch-wise availability.
Yes, Indian nationals do not need a visa for Bhutan. However, a valid passport or voter ID is required for entry, along with a Bhutan Entry Permit processed at the border. For JustWravel group tours, permit coordination is handled by us.
The SDF is a government-mandated daily fee applicable to all visitors including Indians. Indian nationals pay ₹1,200 per person per night. This is included in JustWravel's Bhutan tour package cost.
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best seasons. Spring offers blooming valleys and great trekking weather. Autumn brings clear skies, Himalayan views, and Bhutan's biggest festivals. October to November is especially good for the 8-day Bhutan with Phobhjikha Valley tour, as the black-necked cranes are in Phobjikha Valley during this window.
All JustWravel Bhutan group tours start and end in Bagdogra. From Bagdogra, the group travels overland to Phuentsholing, which is the main entry point into Bhutan. Flights to Bagdogra are not included in the package and need to be booked separately.
Yes, every JustWravel Bhutan group tour has a dedicated trip leader for the entire duration. They manage all ground-level logistics, coordinate with local guides, handle day-to-day planning, and are with the group at all times.
Absolutely. Many of our Wravelers join Bhutan tours solo and travel with a group of like-minded people. It is one of the most comfortable ways to experience Bhutan. There is no planning stress, no solo logistics, and you almost always come back with friends.
No, flights are not included in any of the Bhutan group tour packages. You book your flights independently and meet the group at the designated assembly point in Bagdogra. All travel within Bhutan, be it transport, transfers, or sightseeing as per the itinerary is included in the package.
Description
This one is for travelers who believe the road is as much a part of the trip as the destination. The trip starts and ends in Bagdogra. The route takes you through mountain passes and winding Himalayan roads right into the heart of Bhutan. You cover Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, and the most beautiful Tiger's Nest.
Experience this all on a fixed departure with a dedicated trip leader handling everything on the ground. If you want your Bhutan experience to begin the moment you leave home, this is your trip.

If the above mentioned Bhutan road trip feels like it leaves something unexplored, this one fills that gap. The 8 Days covers each and every beauty of Bhutan— Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, Tiger's Nest, and adds Phobjikha Valley and the Gangtey Monastery to the mix. Phobjikha is one of Bhutan's most serene glacial valleys, and between October and November, it becomes home to the rare black-necked crane.
This is the trip for travelers who want to go past the highlights and spend time in the Bhutan that most people miss. View the 8 Day Bhutan group tour itinerary with Phobjikha Valley
This is for people who do not want to settle at peace. They want a thrill in the quietness of mountains. That’s why we have built the Bhutan Bike and Backpacking Trip; a biking and culture experience where you cover mountain roads, Buddhist monasteries, and soak in the beauty of Paro and Thimphu on two wheels. The tour starts and ends at Bagdogra. We know how important it is to have mechanical support especially when bikes are involved in a trip. That’s why mechanical support stays with the group from Phuentsholing to Phuentsholing.
A government-certified local English-speaking guide is with you throughout, and the SDF is covered in the package. So, it’s basically the same Bhutan, but with a very different vibe.

Spring is when Bhutan looks like it was painted. Rhododendrons are in full bloom across the valleys, the weather is warm enough to hike comfortably, and the skies are generally clear. The trek to Tiger's Nest is at its most rewarding during this time, and the green hills around Punakha are hard to beat.
If you want pleasant weather, easy trails, and great landscape photography, March to May is your window.
Autumn is when Bhutan trips get booked the fastest, and if you have seen the post-monsoon skies over the Himalayas, you already know why. The views are crystal clear, the air is clean, and the Thimphu Tshechu lands right in this season. Thimphu Tshechu is one of Bhutan's biggest festivals, which is famous for its masked dances and traditional music that pulls you straight into the heart of its Buddhist culture.
Then October and November roll in and bring the world famous black-necked cranes with them. They fly in from Tibet and land in Phobjikha Valley every year without fail. Catching that at sunset is one of those travel moments that earns the extra day in the 8-day tour gives you. Do not skip it!
Winter is quieter, colder, and honestly underrated. The tourist rush is totally gone, the monasteries have room to breathe, and the snow changes the whole character of the landscape. This season is for real adventurers. If the cold does not scare you off, you get a Bhutan that most people never see.
Bhutan receives heavy rainfall between June and August, which makes road travel unpredictable and some routes risky. Landslides are common in this period, and most mountain views stay under cloud cover.
We don't run fixed departures during the monsoon months for safety reasons. If you're flexible on timing, we strongly recommend waiting for September.
Bhutan's capital is unlike any other. It has no traffic lights! But they do have a pace of life that is genuinely unhurried. In a group tour, Thimphu is where the trip starts to settle in. You walk through the weekend market, visit the dzong, and ease into Bhutanese culture before the road takes you deeper into the country. It is a good place to get familiarised with your travel group too.
Paro Valley is where most Bhutan trip's vibe shifts, and the Tiger's Nest hike (Paro Taktsang) is where it peaks. The monastery sits at 10,240 feet, built into a cliffside, and the trail up to it takes about two to three hours. It is one of those places that earns every bit of the effort. The valley itself, with its rice fields, old farmhouses, and the Paro river running through is equally worth your time.
Punakha sits at a lower altitude than most of Bhutan, which gives it a warmer climate and lush surroundings. The Punakha Dzong, built at the confluence of two rivers, is considered the most beautiful fortress in the country. It is easy to see why. The drive to Punakha through the Dochula Pass, lined with 108 chortens and offers unobstructed mountain views on clear days, is itself a highlight of the trip.
Phobjikha does not show up on the standard Bhutan tourist circuit, which is exactly what makes it worth visiting. This glacial valley in central Bhutan is wide, flat, and almost completely unspoiled. Between October and November, it is home to the endangered black-necked crane, which migrates here from Tibet. The Gangtey Monastery overlooks the valley and adds a strong cultural anchor to the visit. This is the spot that separates the 8 Day Bhutan group tour with Phobjika Valley from everything else.
Bumthang is often called the spiritual heart of Bhutan. It is a cluster of four valleys in central Bhutan, dotted with ancient temples and monasteries that are among the oldest in the country. The pace here is slower, the landscape more open, and the cultural depth is unlike anything in western Bhutan. Extended itineraries that reach Bumthang tend to leave the strongest impressions.
Yes, Indian nationals do not require a visa to enter Bhutan. However, this does not mean entry is completely paperwork-free. Indians need a valid passport or a voter ID card with a photograph for entry. A passport is strongly recommended; some entry checkpoints do not accept voter IDs.
Additionally, all Indian travelers need a Bhutan Entry Permit, also called an Inland Permit or Area Permit, which is processed at the entry point or through a registered tour operator. For group tours, JustWravel coordinates the permit process on your behalf.
The Sustainable Development Fee is a daily levy charged by the Bhutan government on all visitors, including Indians. Indian nationals are required to pay SDF of ₹1,200 per person per night, which is included in your group tour package cost. This fee goes toward Bhutan's conservation and low-volume, high-value tourism policy.
The most common overland entry point for Indian travelers is Phuentsholing, located on the West Bengal–Bhutan border. Most of our road trip and bike tour groups enter through Phuentsholing, which is roughly a 3-hour drive from Bagdogra airport.
Entry permits are processed at the immigration office in Phuentsholing before proceeding further into Bhutan. Air travelers can fly directly into Paro International Airport, though this route is typically used for customized itineraries. For all JustWravel Bhutan group tours, entry is via Phuentsholing.
