Explore the Complete Meghalaya Circuit Across Khasi, Jaintia & Garo Hills
The Meghalaya you’ve seen on Instagram is only half the story.
The real adventure begins when crowds begin to disappear. Hidden caves stretch deep beneath the rolling hills, rivers flow so clear they look invisible, and remote canyons reward those willing to venture beyond the usual tourist trail.
Our 9 Day Meghalaya Backpacking trip is built for travelers who want to experience the state in its entirety. This Full Circuit trip takes you across all three regions of the state—Jaintia Hills, Khasi Hills, and Garo Hills—bringing together Meghalaya's iconic landmarks and some of its offbeat places.
Explore Krem Chympe, which is one of India's longest cave systems, drift across the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River in Dawki, trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat, and cruise through the turquoise canyon of Wari Chora via an adventurous 4x4 off-road ride.
As a fixed departure, you'll travel with a group of like-minded backpackers led by an experienced Trip Captain, making every trek, campfire, and scenic road trip stop even more memorable.
Tour Highlights:
By the end of these 8-night and 9-day, you'll have explored not just Meghalaya's famous attractions, but also its offbeat corners. And you'll also understand exactly why travelers keep coming back for this full-circuit backpacking trip.

This 9-day offbeat Meghalaya backpacking trip is best suited for travelers who wish to go beyond Shillong and Cherrapunji. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, a group of friends, or someone looking to explore Meghalaya’s hidden gems, this Meghalaya itinerary best combines adventure, nature, and local culture. If you’re someone comfortable with a few treks, scenic road journeys, and love discovering places that aren’t overcrowded, this journey is for you.

Yes. This Meghalaya Backpacking Trip takes you across Jaintia Hills, Khasi Hills, and Garo Hills, the state's three distinct regions—offering a complete Meghalaya experience. From cascading waterfalls, ancient caves, and living root bridges to crystal-clear rivers, dramatic canyons, and remote villages, you'll witness the incredible diversity of the state's landscapes, culture, and natural beauty in a single journey.
Yes, this Offbeat Meghalaya Backpacking Trip is absolutely suitable for solo female travelers. As a fixed departure, you'll be accompanied by an experienced Trip Captain and a group of like-minded backpackers throughout the journey. Meghalaya is beautiful throughout the year, with each season offering a different experience. October to April brings pleasant weather, clear skies, and ideal conditions for trekking and sightseeing. June to September transforms the state into a lush green paradise with waterfalls at their most spectacular, although rainfall can occasionally affect travel schedules and outdoor activities.
Our Meghalaya backpacking trips are conducted in small groups, creating a more comfortable and interactive travel experience. Smaller groups allow better coordination, easier exploration of offbeat destinations, and more opportunities to connect with fellow travelers and your Trip Captain.
Wari Chora is a seasonal destination. While it remains accessible for most of the year, heavy monsoon rainfall or high river levels may temporarily restrict boating or entry for safety reasons. In such situations, the itinerary may be adjusted based on local conditions and official advisories to ensure a safe travel experience.
Yes. The 4x4 rides are operated by experienced local drivers who regularly navigate these routes. Since both destinations involve rugged terrain, specialized vehicles are the safest way to reach them. We recommend following your driver's instructions and wearing your seatbelt whenever available.
No. Bamboo rafting inside Krem Chympe Cave is an optional activity and is not included in the package cost. Travelers who wish to experience it can book the activity on-site for approximately ₹1,200 per person (subject to availability and local pricing).
