Is Chandratal open in December?

Chandratal Lake is not open for visitors in December. The approach roads to the lake, including the crucial Kunzum Pass, are closed due to heavy snowfall, cutting off access by vehicle. While a few experienced trekkers may attempt reaching Chandratal, it is a high-risk trek, and staying overnight at the lake is highly discouraged because there are no campsites or facilities available in such extreme winter conditions.

Is Spiti colder than Ladakh?

Spiti Valley and Ladakh both experience extremely harsh winters, but Ladakh generally has slightly lower temperature extremes. Ladakh can reach temperatures as low as -40°C, while Spiti’s temperatures in winter hover between -35°C and -38°C, occasionally approaching -30°C at night. Which is the nearest airport to Spiti Valley?
