What if your next trip wasn't just a vacation but a soulful story waiting to unfold? What if every day brought you closer to timeless temples, wild landscapes, and a culture that’s both grounding and grand?
Welcome to Gujarat- a land where the divine whispers through temple bells, lions roam free in ancient forests, and history lives on in every stone. This Gujarat itinerary for 6 days is crafted not just for sightseeing, but for experiencing. Whether you're chasing spiritual serenity, royal architecture, or untamed wilderness, this journey gives you all of it without ever feeling rushed.
The adventure begins in Ahmedabad, but the real magic starts as you drive towards Junagadh. Along the way, you can pause at Virpur to visit the revered Jalaram Bapa Mandir, where devotion flows as steadily as the visitors who come to seek blessings. In Junagadh, explore Mahabat Maqbara, an architectural marvel with stunning domes and minarets. Uparkot Fort invites you to step back in time with ancient caves, city views, and tales etched into its very walls.
Start your next morning with a spiritual climb, either via ropeway or trek to Girnar Hill, where Jain and Hindu temples sit atop quiet ridges, offering peace with a view. Then it’s on to Sasan Gir, home to the only wild Asiatic lions in the world. Whether you choose to go on a safari or simply relax at your jungle resort, nature surrounds you in its rawest, most peaceful form.
Somnath follows and here, the divine takes center stage. The Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple, one of Shiva’s twelve sacred abodes, is a spiritual powerhouse by the sea. Visit Bhalka Tirth, tied to the final moments of Lord Krishna’s earthly journey, and feel the energy at Triveni Sangam, where three rivers meet. Don’t miss the sunset at Somnath Beach or the mesmerizing Sound & Light Show; it’s history retold through music and light.
As the road winds on, Porbandar offers a brush with history. Walk through Kirti Mandir, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, and feel the calm at Sudama Temple, where friendship and devotion take center stage. Then, step into Dwarka where devotion runs deep. Visit the majestic Dwarkadhish Temple, a place that pulses with spiritual rhythm and daily rituals that have continued for centuries.
The next day is devoted to discovering the holy sites around Dwarka. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is where Shiva’s energy is said to protect the coastal region. Gopi Talav, a quiet pond, brings Krishna’s playful past to life, and the Rukmini Temple adds a mythological twist to your itinerary. A ferry to Bet Dwarka takes you across the sea to the island believed to be Krishna’s former kingdom. Time slows down here and so does your mind.
On your final day, drive back to Ahmedabad, stopping optionally at Jamnagar. Here, Lakhota Lake and Bala Hanuman Temple offer a quiet farewell to Gujarat’s spiritual and cultural richness. Fun fact? The temple’s Ram Dhun chant has been going nonstop since 1964. Yes-nonstop.
This 6 days trip to Gujarat isn't just about covering places, it's about feeling places. It’s where your camera captures temples and tigers, but your heart takes home something more: peace, wonder, and stories you'll tell for years to come.

The best time to visit Gujarat is from October to February, when the weather is pleasant and ideal for sightseeing. During these winter months, temperatures range between 12°C to 29°C, making it comfortable to explore the Rann of Kutch, Gir National Park, Dwarka, Somnath, and other attractions. It’s also the season for festivals like the Rann Utsav, which showcases local culture, music, and crafts. Avoid the summer months due to extreme heat, especially in inland areas.
Gujarat is generally a budget-friendly destination, suitable for all types of travelers. Accommodation ranges from budget guesthouses to luxury hotels, allowing flexibility. Local transportation, food, and entry fees are relatively economical. Meals at local restaurants are affordable, and public transport is widely available. However, visiting remote areas like the White Rann may slightly increase costs due to limited accommodation options. Overall, Gujarat offers value for money, especially if planned in advance during off-peak travel seasons. Customize your trip with JustWravel for a hassle-free booking process and a meticulously crafted itinerary at the best prices.
November to February is considered the best period to visit Gujarat due to the pleasant winter climate, ideal for exploring heritage sites, beaches, and wildlife sanctuaries. This is also when major festivals like Rann Utsav, Navratri (if it falls late), and International Kite Festival take place. Sightseeing becomes more enjoyable without the discomfort of heat or humidity. Wildlife sightings in Gir are also more common during this time. Avoid visiting during monsoon and summer for a better travel experience.
May is typically the hottest month in Gujarat, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C (104°F), especially in inland areas like Ahmedabad, Bhuj, and Sasan Gir. The scorching heat can make travel uncomfortable and unsafe for extended outdoor activities. Coastal regions like Diu and Dwarka are slightly milder but still quite warm. It's advisable to avoid planning trips during this period unless absolutely necessary. If you must travel in May, ensure proper hydration, sun protection, and minimal daytime sightseeing.
The ideal time to visit Somnath Temple is between October and March, when the climate is cooler and more comfortable for exploring the temple complex and nearby attractions. Winter months also allow you to enjoy peaceful coastal walks and spiritual moments without heat exhaustion. The Kartik Purnima festival (around November) is an especially auspicious time to visit. While the temple is open year-round, avoiding the summer heat (April–June) and monsoon season (July–September) ensures a more pleasant pilgrimage experience.
Mobile phones are not allowed inside the main Somnath Temple complex for security and to maintain the sanctity of the sacred space. Visitors must deposit their phones in lockers provided at the entrance. Photography, video recording, and electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the inner sanctum and temple premises. However, you can use phones in nearby areas, markets, and public spaces. It’s advisable to carry minimal belongings and follow all temple guidelines for a respectful visit.
It is generally recommended to visit Dwarka first, followed by Somnath, especially when planning a religious circuit. Dwarka is dedicated to Lord Krishna, while Somnath is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. This order aligns with traditional Hindu pilgrimage sequences - from Vaishnav (Krishna) to Shaiva (Shiva) sites. Logistically, if arriving from Rajkot or Jamnagar, Dwarka is closer and makes sense as the first stop. Then, proceed south to Somnath, possibly covering Porbandar on the way.
