Planning a UAE holiday from India just got more exciting. Abu Dhabi has introduced a limited-time free visa offer for Indian tourists, allowing eligible travelers to have their UAE entry visa fee waived when they book a qualifying holiday package.
The initiative, launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), is available for bookings made between August 1 and October 31, 2026. With the pilot program limited to 20,000 visas, Indian travelers looking to visit Abu Dhabi this year may want to plan their trip early.
What Is the Abu Dhabi Free Visa Offer for Indians?
Under the new scheme, eligible Indian passport holders can get their UAE entry visa fee waived when they book a qualifying Abu Dhabi holiday package through a participating travel agent or online travel agency (OTA).
To qualify, the package must include:
- A minimum three-night stay at an Abu Dhabi hotel
- A return flight from India
- Booking through a participating travel agent or OTA
The visa fee being waived is worth approximately Dh285 ($77) per traveler, making the offer an attractive incentive for Indians planning an Abu Dhabi getaway.
The pilot program has a cap of 20,000 visas, with DCT Abu Dhabi allocating around $1.5 million toward the initiative.
According to Abdulla Yousuf, Director of International Operations at DCT Abu Dhabi, the initiative aims to make Abu Dhabi more accessible to Indian travelers while giving travel partners another reason to recommend the emirate.
How Does the Abu Dhabi Free Visa Offer Work?
Travel partners can access the free-visa benefit through two routes.
Through a DCT-appointed DMC
The visa fee is covered directly by DCT Abu Dhabi when the booking is processed through a destination management company (DMC) appointed by the tourism department.
Through an Existing DMC Partnership
Travel partners with an existing DMC relationship can pay the visa cost upfront. DCT Abu Dhabi then reimburses Dh285 for each eligible visa issued.
For travelers, the key takeaway is simple: the eligible visa fee is not an additional cost for the traveler.
Who Is Eligible for the Abu Dhabi Free Visa?
The Abu Dhabi free visa offer for Indian tourists comes with specific conditions. Travelers must:
- Be Indian passport holders
- Depart from India
- Book through a participating travel agent or OTA
- Stay for at least three consecutive nights at an Abu Dhabi hotel
- Have a confirmed return flight to India
The offer does not apply to travelers who independently book their flight and hotel separately without going through an eligible travel partner.
So, if you’re planning a DIY UAE trip, make sure you check the booking conditions before assuming you qualify for the free visa.
Why Is Abu Dhabi Offering Free Visas to Indian Tourists?
India is one of Abu Dhabi’s most important international tourism markets, as well as home to one of the UAE’s largest expatriate communities. Abu Dhabi alone is estimated to have around 800,000 Indian residents.
The free visa initiative comes as Abu Dhabi continues to strengthen its tourism ties with India, improve air connectivity and work more closely with travel-trade partners.
The move also comes at a time when destinations across the UAE and wider region are competing to attract Indian outbound travelers.
Dubai, for instance, is running its own “invite a friend” campaign for UAE residents, offering travel-related discounts through December 2026. However, that initiative has different eligibility requirements and is aimed at a different audience.
How Can Indian Travelers Make the Most of the Free Visa Offer?
If you’re planning an Abu Dhabi trip from India, keep these points in mind before booking:
- Check the visa benefit: Make sure your booking confirmation clearly mentions the free-visa benefit before making your payment.
- Use an eligible travel partner: The offer is available only through participating travel agents and OTAs. Travelers cannot independently apply for the offer.
- Book early: The pilot is limited to 20,000 visas, so the benefit may not be available once the allocation is exhausted.
- Keep your booking documents: Since the visa is processed through the travel partner, retain your booking confirmation and other relevant documents.
- Check the validity dates: The current pilot covers qualifying bookings made between August 1 and October 31, 2026.
Travelers should also check with their booking partner for the latest eligibility requirements, as the scheme could potentially be extended or its allocation increased.
The Abu Dhabi free visa offer for Indian tourists could make a UAE holiday more affordable this year, but it isn’t an unconditional visa waiver.
The offer is available only to eligible Indian passport holders who meet the package requirements and book through participating travel partners. With just 20,000 visas available during the pilot, travelers planning an Abu Dhabi getaway between August and October 2026 should check their eligibility and secure the offer early.
Planning a UAE trip this year? Abu Dhabi might just have given you one more reason to add it to your travel list.
