Pakhanjore is a major Nagar Panchayat (Notified Area Council) city in the Kanker district (North Baster) of Chhattisgarh state, central India. It is 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from Kapsi, 72 km (45 mi) from Bhanupratappur, 186 km (116 mi) from Durg and about 224 km (139 mi) from the state capital Raipur. It is located 110 km (68 mi) towards the west from District headquarters Kanker (North Baster), and 47 km (29 mi) from Koylibeda.
Pakhanjore is a combination of two word Pakhan + Jore = Pakhanjore which means Boss of two (Pakhan- in Russian means "Boss" and Jore- in Bengali means "two") or Boss god will uplift (Jore in Israeli means "God will uplift").
Freedom fighters like Gen Singh fought against the British Raj in Paralkot (now modern Pakhanjore).
The best time to visit the destination is from October to February.
