Overview
Velankanni which is situated in the state of Tamil Nadu is a popular pilgrim centre and is well knwon for the Church of Mother Mary. Every year Velankanni hosts a festival during August-September, starting on 29th August and the festival is called “the Feast of Our Lady” celebrated for 10 days and during this time tourists from all around the world visit this place and a great number of pilgrims turn up. Velankanni is nicknamed as Lourdes of the East.
