Overview
Referred as the “Golden city of Thousand temple”, Kanchipuram is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Kanchi and is situated on the western bank of River Palar. It is famous for a diversity of temples present here. Kanchipuram is famous for hand woven sarees knwon as KAnchipuram sarees and most of the city households are involved in trading of Kanchipuram sarees and are specialised in it. Kanchipuram has been chosen as one of the heritage cities for HRIDAY - Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana scheme of Government of India.
