The state which is known as ‘Heart of India’ has a lot to offer in terms of exploration, arts, culture, history and tradition. Madhya Pradesh is also the second largest state of India, making it a unique proposition altogether.
We start our 3 nights 4 days Bhopal with Sanchi Stupa Tour from the city of Bhopal. Bhopal is the capital city of Madhya Pradesh which was founded back in 1707. Bhopal has so much to offer to a traveller looking to explore its soul, sights, and sounds. The historic areas perfectly amalgamate with the modern well-planned urban developments. There are two main lakes – the Upper Lake and the Lower Lake, which form the nucleus of the city.
The main highlight of the trip for sure is a visit to Sanchi Stupa, which is a Buddhist complex in the town of Sanchi. It is one of the oldest stone structures in India built during the Mauryan period and it also has a tag of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Shanti Stupa was commissioned by one of the greatest emperors of India, Ashoka, the instigator of the Maurya dynasty. The inception of Stupas was done to redistribute the mortal remains of Lord Buddha in the third century BC. This huge hemispherical dome is 54ft. high, which comprises a central chamber where the relics of Buddha have been placed.
